You can never have enough bayonets, or bayonet frogs for that matter...LOL. I have one Pattern-1907 Bayonet that I picked up for $7 (US). Needless to say, it was missing the grip scales and needed a good cleaning up, which was a fun project. Only thing is it is a Drill Purpose bayonet, so sometime in the near future I am going to start looking for a decent Pattern-1907. I also have a cut-down bayonet that was in much better shape.

yea now all my No1 MkIII's have have a Bayonet. I have several extra's for my No4 MkI's. Well I say extra there different makes so thats part of collecting.

i keep a spare 1907 & a spare no4 - just in case , i suspect it will be justification for a new rifle one day ,
if you get a good buy - never pass it up - after all look how much you save over regular prices :>}

My Bayonet Ratio is as follows, 6 to 1 for the No.4 Mk.I* Rifle (3-No.4MkII bayonets, 1-No.4Mk.II* Bayonet, 1-No.4 Mk.III Bayonet, and 1-No.9Mk.I Bayonet).
1 1/2* to 1 for the No.1 Mk.III Rifle (one Pattern-1907 bayonet and one cut-down Pattern-1907 to explain the "1/2"...LOL. Yes, I confirm that the Lee-Enfield Rifle is very addicting...LOL. Mark |

i think this is quite normal , one needs to keep a few as ecxcuses to buy those rifles that turn up that are too good to pass up , ive even kept a few of other makes for selling and trading for the right rifle/bayos when they show up ,
wish that would have woked when i found the mole 1910 hooked quillon - alas that took cash

On the topic of adding another bayonet, I think the next bayonet to add to my "wanted list" is a Pattern-1903 Bayonet.

Anyone have an idea of what price a Pattern-1903 Bayonet (not in "unissued" condition, but not totally knackered either) is going for these days? I did see one at antique store a while back for around $50 (US) in "decent" shape, it did not have a scabbard. It is not life or death that I get one in the next 6 months, but I would like to buy one someday.

That is about right from what I have seen. I have found them in varying states from $25 up to $150. I am lucky, mine is fantastic and came with a rifle I purchased. Keep looking and good luck.

I think that if the bayonet is still there after I get my income tax refund, I might buy it.
As for the missing scabbard...from what research I have done via the internet, it seems the scabbards are close in appearance to the scabbard for the Pattern-1907 bayonet, only shorter for the 12" blade. Interantional Military Antiques sells reproduction scabbards for the 12" cut-down Pattern-1907 Bayonet for $10 (US). I have one for my cut-down Pattern-1907 bayonet and they are fairly decent. Unless I find an original, that might work. One thing at a time...LOL...dang the Lee-Enfield Rifle is so addicting...LOL. Mark |

in actuality they are quite diferent but the real ones are scarce and most of us have setteled for what you describe , the real P03 scabords were not as durrable and certainly not as plentiful as we collectors would need , i would pick the bayo up you describe as thats a reasonable price and all ive seen lately are half again to start

The cut down P07 bayo's are likely the Indian pattern . These have the "Mk" designation ( ie; Mk1 )
As for the P 03 scabbard...
P 07 scabbard top
P 03 scabbard bottom ...what I'm missing is the proper bayo.
Note the lower tip on the p 03 scabbard is more of a button type
