Any of you guys running cast in the 303? If so what powder/charge and bullet mold are you using, how is the bore on your rifle is it new or is it pitted and worn?

I have a few different rifles I am looking to run cast in as jacketed bullets are starting to get to the point I don’t care to buy them at that price anymore, few of the guns have tighter .314 barrels but are pitted from neglect at some point in there life’s

There are a few members here that shoot cast.

Many years ago, I shot cast bullets thru my Dad's No. 4(T).  I don't recall the bullet mold number, a Lyman of some type, fairly heavy round nose with gas check.  They shot OK, but a significant drop in elevation from the Mk 7 174 grain service cartridge at 100 yds.  The bore was very good, a practically new barrel at that point in time.

You may not have much success accuracy wise if the bore is very rough, and may get significant leading. If you switch back to jacketed bullets, it's recommended to completely clean the bore of all lead fouling first.

I buy my cast from Prairie Projectiles as I don`t  melt lead or have molds,
I shoot 215gr RN  powder coated on top of 21grs of IMR4227, 3-4" groups average at 100 yrds. mainly used in my martini enfield carbine.
Havn`t had a chance to shoot them from any of my other enfields yet, should be fine.

PS these are .312 sized, slightly harder then pure lead.

I wish someone in the USA did cast bullets the size a guy would need for 303, my best like new rifle still has a .315 bore on it, nice deep rifling on it though.
