As an Enfield owner you would be very welcome. It is suggested that you provide a photo of your rifle.

Not much to go on now….
A photo of the full rifle, and close ups of the action. If it’s an Enfield, we can help. Would also help if you tell what markings are on it.

It was a No4 Mk1. It's been massively, "Sporterised" (made to look & function like a sporting rifle.) It's had lots of non-replaceable stuff removed so there's no way to restore it to original condition. If it's a good shooter, many are, keep it & use it for that in good health. It would have originally looked a lot like this: ![]() |

Barrel is marked M47C, which is the BSA Shirley plant. I don’t see any of the usual markings on the left side of the action body butt stock wrist. Either scrubbed, or perhaps made under a BSA commercial program?
By the way, the action is cocked, should not store the rifle this way, it weakens the striker spring. |

Are there any markings that look like a serial number? Many have letter(s) followed by numbers.
You may need to remove the trigger guard to get the magazine out. The magazine has been cut down to be flush with the forend. Likely holds only 5 cartridges. |

Magazine might be modified to not come oot the bottom and top-load/unload only. Had a Remington 700 .243 like that. Great rifle, pain to unload.

That looks more like a "floor-plate" than a magazine to me? Does it take multiple round from the top? To remove it all, unscrew the big screw in front of the magazine & remove. Remove the small cross bolt from the rear of the trigger guard. be careful with it they're easy to strip & hard to find. now pull down & wiggle

More like magazine cover. Japanese rifles have floor plates as do Mauser rifles. Never seen this on a Enfield. I think it is the work of Bubba other brother, the other Bubba.

Ruh Roh rik rasterdly! Please Tell me you didn't "lever that forend off" by pulling down on the front, please. ![]() That's a a fast way of damaging the "Draws" of the Enfield bedding. It should be removed parallel to the barrel, tapping on alternating rear left & right till it comes loose. When reassembling make sure you get the trigger's top extension correctly mated to the sear. ot goes behind the sear, with the 2 bumps bearing on the sear's upper surface. ![]() |
