Sounds like fun, I'll be attending the April monthly meeting to apply for membership.  Is the shoot open to the public or just club members?

cool , i love both of those rifles , enjoy yourself ,

i miss a couple of my rifles of the past , a 1942 M1903 Modified  is one and my eddystone P14 is another , i know where both are and i think they are in good hands ,
id have to shoot it with my 1915 BSA mkIII today as thats all i have left in vintage service rifles , unless the M16 qualifies

AR-15s are allowed  they shoot against each other in the Modern Military class. In small matches you could have Bolt Gun, M-1 Garands and AR all shoot at the same time but they are different classes for competition.   We have had a large M1 Garand turn out once so they all shoot as a group: ping, ping, pingSmile

Turn out was light even though the weather was great

I managed to win the 1903 Springfield Match

As for Modern military I must report shooting offhand with a scope is quite challengingWink

Congrats SW28fan on the Springfield Match win!

With some encouragement, these local matches can grow in numbers.  For several years now, a group of us have been shooting CMP 200 yd Matches every month. The range only has 10 firing points, but the last few years we have had upwards of 20 show up. We run three relays to allow everyone to shoot at least once.  Unfortunately, the club has denied our recommendations to widen the firing line to get more firing points.

Shooting offhand with, or without, a scope is challenging!

The CMP does allow for shooters with disabilities or infirmity do to age. You can contact them and explain your situation. My club allows  people to shoot from the bench without supports in the match for fun just not for official score.  We have a number of folks shooting older than me.

Yes, one of the routine accommodations is to allow starting the rapid fire stage already in position.

I know several who are into their 80’s and still compete. Some of them are still very good shooters!
