It was the industrial might of the USA that saved the UK, prior to the US military joining in the fighting. The U- boat threat was beaten by smart British technology and the number of ships that US Naval yards were building.

Plus the tanks, trucks and jeeps used in the North African campaign.

The Eighth Army couldn't have beaten Rommel without the equipment!

Not forgetting the Aviation factories.

Apologies for the error! Yes Canada was also a major player from the start of the conflict. We have a lot to be thankful for.

In France the appreciation of the sacrifice is well respected.

Memorials for crashed allied airmen are scattered around the country side. There are a few in our region.

Zed great point except the British 8th army was made up of predominately commonwealth troops Canada, Australia, New zealand,India, Poland etc …. And these troops handed hitters his first defeat of ww2. My grand father’s nephew was awarded the VC at Tobruk John Hurst Edmondson . There was so many technological and military advancements done in this time period .

Yes, if the Kangaroo was an altered (defrocked, as they called it) M7 'Priest' that had a ring mount for an MG, they kept it. The Kangaroos made from converted Shermans, Churchills, and Canadian Rams kept their bow machine guns. The whole idea behind the Kangaroos was not for them to be scout vehicles but to safely transport troops forward so they could engage the enemy at close range without the losses from moving forward on foot.
