Oh yes. Are they thinking of a New Country, or joining the U.S.?

I don't think Alberta or Saskatchewan will be part of Canada within 10 years. Both extremely blessed with oil (Alberta) and potash (Saskatchewan) and agriculture. I just hope they take my Manitoba with them, but we don't have a lot to offer. Maybe hydroelectricity and a mostly frozen waterway in our north?

I hate to see Canada break apart.

It is understandable and I wish it was not so.

That's because you never struggled to raise a family and make ends meet under an Canadian Liberal government based in Ottawa.  The Conservatives weren't much better.  We tried to get B.C. to separate in the 1980's to no avail, now Alberta and Saskatchewan have had enough, hopefully they'll have better luck.  You can't crush the dreams of an entire part of a country for decades to distribute government largesse to the toadie provinces who line up to lick Ottawa's boots without something breaking.

Well if British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Manitoba all leave Canada and Join the U.S. that would make for a 54 star flag with 6 rows of 9 stars.

That would change the shape of the flag.

Believe me, we don't want B.C. to join the U.S. as a state.  Too many liberals and despite everyone's denials Vancouver is a major trans-shipment point for Fentanyl precursors and money laundering.  They have even coined a name for it:  "The Vancouver Model" of organized international crime.  Alberta and Saskatchewan?  Absolutely!  Alberta is the "Texas" of Canada and Saskatchewan is the "Wyoming".

The GTA is already its own country, and it's not Canada. More of a Middle Eastern flavour. Alberta and Saskatchewan need to act fast before Ottawa ships the excess "new" Canadians there to put a finger on the referendum vote scale. I would leave Manitoba in a minute if they separate.

It's the same in Vancouver's Lower Mainland where various ethnicities have established large enclaves.  Richmond is Chinese, Surrey is East Indian, Abbotsford is Punjabi, and Vancouver city proper is probably only 50% natural born European descent Canadians.  It wouldn't be a problem if they assimilated but they have no intention of respecting Canada's traditions and heritage.  I remember the outrage when one stanza of the Canadian national anthem was sung in French, wait until they dedicate one stanza for Hindi and another for Farsi.  Don't laugh, it's coming.

Remember you heard it here first.

I do feel the change of thinking in the western world in regards to immigration. I'm hearing the word "assimilate" more and more from European countries. Here in Canada it was almost deemed a hate crime to say it. When my grandparents came to this country, they assimilated. They still could worship at the Ukrainian church and celebrate their original homelands traditions, but they were "Canadian". No hyphen, no special treatment. You cannot have a stable country that allows what our immigration policies currently allow, and I think the west now realizes that. I do have hope that policies will change and immigrants will need to assimilate then reap the benefits of their new country. It's the only way it can work.
