Any day behind a Bren Gun is a good day.  Shooting out to 225 yards.  Semi-auto but still a blast.  Open bolt guns have a completely different feel to them and takes a little adjustment.  The smell of cordite is always a winner.

Love the distinctive firing pin marks from the Bren.

At least hey don't walk forwards off the bench!Star
Yeah I know there's no such thing as forward recoil. I have seen a lightly built squaddie dragged over a berm though! We henceforth put 2 sandbags on his butt to nail him down!

Is CCCP-alifornia's ban on LCMs in effect yet?  I had heard there were some court challenges that may have delayed implementation.

Ban of new purchase or import is in effect but possession of grandfathered mags is not.

That looks like fun!! Your No.4 on the bench, that is the color of the rifle I am restoring the butt stock on. Dark almost black, like an ebony color. I wish we could own Bren's up here north of the 49th but alas....stupid goverfnment rules.

Canadian Senior NCOs were still being issued WWII Inglis BHPs as late as 2001 when I got out.

I've only ever fired two open bolt weapons:  a Model 1928 Thompson and a M1918 BAR.  I likened firing them to shooting a Flintlock rifle:  Get your sight picture, squeeze the trigger, keep your sigh picture, wait for something to happen.

Have been fortunate enough to fire the Bren, Sten, 1928, and BAR pretty regularly.  Yeah, it takes a little getting used to.

I had a nice semi auto 1919A6 for a number of years in 308 before I sold it.  It was a heavy SOB to lug around but it was fun to shoot.
