he!!o all!  I've been the proud owner of an Enfield 2A1 Ishapore for over 25 years now and just saw this forum.  And I thought I was all alone!

I am retired military, gun collector and avid shooter/hunter.  As I've aged I find myself less interested in the "tacticool" weapons and more into the history and collection of older military hardware.   I've had my Enfield for over 25 years now and until recently it was mostly a field beater and wall hanger- used hard, thrown around but always ready.  But now I have taken a greater interest in it, I find it to be a fascinating and solid weapon.  It's been cleaned, accessorized and accessorized and now serves as my primary long rifle (apart from the Marlin 60- but that is for a different purpose).

The odd fact is that over the years it's the one firearm of the many I've had that I never sold or traded.  I can't say the same for my relationships Embarrassed.  Providence leading me to true love that was there all along perhaps?

Thanks for having me, and I'll leave it at that.

Thanks for the welcome!  I guess I just jump right in?

I'm certainly not the Enfield expert, that much is certain.  I've had the Ishapore for quite some time and I've picked up some good info for that particular rifle.  Perhaps there may be an opportunity to share some of that field knowledge.  I expect, however, that I will be receiving more information than what my tiny brain can give back.

yes, a little "north". That means my bullets fly faster towards you than yours towards me since mine are going "down", and yours are going "up", right?Wink

Hoadie,

I think you are a bit confused.

Tidewater VA is in the South, it is below the Mason-Dixon line.

Ozzlefinch is a Reb, like me.

Paddy-yer not a "Reb" your a "Rab".(as in rabble)
I KNOW where tidewater is..aka Hampton Roads - jst aint far enuf south fer the likes of me, anymore.
For the better part of 30 years I trapsed all over that neck of the woods.(C/W re-enactor:22nd Va. Batt, Co. "G")
It's from this hobby I learnt three things:
The Northern Army moved at approx. .27 miles per week. (Its only about 52 miles from Richmond to Washington - but it took about 4 yrs for them to get there!
The Confederate army was "non-union"

..& I don't want to be anywhere NEAR Washington!

Hes Southern, then again, in  theory so am I. I can fling a rock across the Mason-Dixon line from my stoop.
