I was browsing through one of the 1915 Le Miroir, journals of WW1 and I found this cool photo of a clip of .303 ammo with a Mauser bullet stuck in it. Probably saved the Tommie's skin!
One bullet missing from the charger clip, probably knocked out. ![]() |

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

iirc A British soldier survived which minor injuries his rifle blowing up, it appears his muzzle got plugged by a German bullet fired at him at the same moment he shot.

My neighbor had the bullet that was removed from the side of his head that he took storming Anzio beach
He told me as he came up on the beach he took cover behind one of the steel crosses placed on the beach, and when he woke up he was on a hospital ship!!! with his eye covered. He only used his glass eye when he dressed up to go someplace !!! other than that he never wore it!!! He showed the bullet and the glass eye to me one day while I was drinking beer with him. He said it must have been a ricochet ! |

Hunley (before he died on CSS Hunley), always carried a coin in his breast pocket. It was dented & bent from the bullet that hit him. It was carried in a pocket in front of his heart, when the ball hit.He kept it as a good luck charm.
There is a 12 pounder cannon in Buffalo N.Y. that still has the cannon ball in the muzzle. It was incoming & ended up in the mouth of the tube! Hoadie |
