I recently picked up an AIA M10-B1 Sporter and had a chance to take it to the range. I am impressed with the out of the box accuracy, the oil finished Teak stock is very nice and well made. The M-14 style 10 shot mag box feeds perfect and locks positively into the rifle.
I got it to shoot 1/2 inch on the first trip to the range with 165 Hornady BTSP bullets. The 180 Nosler Partition's shot 7/8ths on the same target as well as the 180 grain Winchester bulk bullets.
The whole rifle is a lot beefier than the regular No4 Enfield but still retains all of the looks. I had it apart to see what the innards look like and I could tell where they carefully took the wood down in the barrel channel to get it to free float.
All in all it's a very accurate and solid (heavy) remake of a timeless classic, expensive but worth it.Smile

Here's some info from the Agent here in Aus

AIA M10 series rifles incorporate a long list of improvements and refinements over the original Lee Enfield design. Their forged ordnance steel receivers are built 50% thicker to better withstand the high pressures generated by modern ammunition, the bolt head is fully enclosed, headspacing is accomplished via a Brewer (Savage type) locking collar, and the magna-fluxed 7.62x51mm barrels are free-floating for increased accuracy and chrome-lined for maximum bore life and corrosion resistance. All M10 receivers are factory drilled and tapped for an optional steel weaver scope mount and use ten round detachable magazines (the M10's mag release is forward of the trigger guard).

Features

  • Based upon the proven No.4 design, the No.4 Mk.IV has been significantly strengthened in order to withstand the higher pressures of many modern cartridges. Improvements have also been made to overcome original shortcomings of the design. These include a deepened and strengthened receiver bolt track negating chipping of the bolt track leads caused by constant disassembly.
  • The receiver is CNC milled from 4150 steel.
  • Shorter 60 degree bolt throw (versus 90 degree throw on many other commercial rifles)
  • Removable double stack steel magazine box with 10 round capacity.
  • All rifles will be stocked in teak furniture as standard. Though slightly heavier than walnut, teak offers far superior strength.
  • Fitted with Mk.2 No.4 style rear sight. Front sights are post type and are adjustable for both elevation and windage.

$1475.00
AIA M10 B1 "Sporter" 7.62x51mm Rifle Click image for further information.
$1095.00

It is well to note that their earlier offerings of the 7.62 X 39 using a SKS Clip have been dropped from the line ! That particular model was the one I had major problems with having met a chap who had brought one. A lot of the Parts had been manufactured in Vietnam & those early offerings left a lot to be desired ! The shown prices are in Aus $

The aussie peso buys about 65 US cents at the moment Cry

A few months back it was almost at parity and I would have had a lot more cash for my trip in February
But the winters coming,

And I'll be watching,

I have a 6-24x44 Mildot scope coming for the M-10 B1,I hope to see some good long range shooting out of this rig.Smile The 100 yard targets were easy with groups landing under an inch, so the 24 x scope should help with longer range groups.

Typical on-line or recent gunshow prices here (Australia) at the moment

6.5 x 55 Mausers                       $600-700
No 1 Mk3*                                 $280-1350
No 4   .303                                $350-1000
No 4   7.62                                $1000
No 5  Jungle Carbine                 $650-850
M1 Carbine                                $2300
M1 Garand                                 $4500

The AIA rifles, at first glance, do perhaps seem a little bit pricey.

But, remember it is for a brand new rifle, which comes drilled and tapped for scope mount, has an extra magazine and in my case included a canvas gun cover. How much does a gunsmith charge to drill-and-tap a receiver in your area? What do spare mags go for?  I believe that the extras add a fair bit to the value of the purchase.

These rifles are a small production run, without the economy of scale of the huge government wartime contracts.

These rifles may not appeal to the purists among us, indeed their origins may offend others for keenly felt reasons.

I can understand, and respect, this.

Nevertheless, I have two of them, and am very happy with them.

My 7.62 x 39 does not suffer from the magazine feed issues which I have seen reported on various North American forums.

I would say that I am very unlikely to ever get a No4T, let alone an L42, so the 7.62 x 51 M10B2 will just have to do. Given its good out-of-the-box accuracy, it should do nicely.

(I have no connection with AIA, except for being a retail customer.)

Hoadie thats a reasonable price mate. I just paid £1000 for a Dragunov Tigre for my lads 18th birthday/ christmas prezzie plus another £100 for an extra new magazine and a second hand Russian scope with the dedicated Tigre mount. A half decent #4 enfield is around £400 and my Fias 222 remington second hand price was £300, If you want silly prices I have seen a deactivated DeadCry # T for sale at £2900. UK prices are astronomical mate have a look at the prices I have quoted for ammo parts.

They certainly are a great looking rifle. What does the AIA T get that the regular #4 mk4 doesn't have other than monte carlo stock?

I have had the chance to test a few of these out at a DCRA shoot, and they are very nice

Are these by the same manufacturer that was being avidly discussed 2 years ago?  The word at that time was they could not be imported to the U.S. because the original source was Viet Nam. Someone tried to find the business and there is no manufacturing facility, they are only partially assembled in OZ?
