It's absolutely amazing what one finds on ones travels. On Saturday I took myself out on a pleasant car ride to a Military Antiques Fair, and one of my favourite Antique Markets. The weather wasn't all that agreeable, but it turned out to be quite a nice day after all. I picked up two lovely items for my collection, one at each venue.
Here is what came home with me from the Military Antiques Fair... a Vickers manufactured P07 - 4/18 (April 1918) dated. Apart from a little pitting along the blade at various points, its in reasonable condition. The ricasso stampings are quite light, especially those for the left ricasso, with the Vickers name and logo only just visible. No markings to the scabbard at first inspection. It now joins the rest of my Vickers family. |

Always nice when you spot something worthwhile.
I only have two 1907 bayonets. The first one was spotted by my missus at a boot sale. A guy had a big wooden box stuffed with loads of bayonets; mostly 1907's. Unfortunately at the time I only had 40 euro's in my pocket and knew very little about the various makers. I picked up a nice 1917 Sanderson for the 40 Euros. It was a good deal; but I often wonder if there was maybe something special in the box that I just did not know about at the time.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

'Zed'.. I know what you mean. There have been times, especially when I have had no folding money in my pocket, when I've been at military fairs, seen a tempting piece at a vendors table and thought... what other goodies have they got?
Well, the lovely item I brought home from the antique store was a Remington P07. I'll be sharing that collection over the weekend. |

i have no vickers in my accumulation - i take it thats what you seek out ? the one i want is their P1913 but those are fairly rare , never seen one in real life to this day after almost two decades of collecting ,
congrats , thats a fine looking addition to your collection which seems to be growing , where on earth did you find so many vickers bayonets ? thats the makings of a fine collection ,

'A Square 10', I do have a 'Top-Five' which I actively seek out first whenever I'm at a fair or antique centre----> Vickers, Remington P07's, P13's and M17's (Winchester and Remington for both, M17 (1918 dated).
I do have two spare Vickers (8-18) which I purchased at the time thinking that they were either a '6' or '9'. however, I've since confirmed that they are indeed '8', and so intend to use as trade at some point. |

really nice items and great area of collecting , ive only ever collected these in respect to the rifles i mainly collect but because im so loose in my rifle collecting [i do not seek only one mfgr or era] i have a rather diverse assortment in my accumulation , i have done extensive research and find ive often forgotten what i once knew , im getting old
that said i do enjoy seeing all that others collect , these posts always inspire me to revisit what i have and how i got there , it has been a fun ride and i doubt my heirs will respect all the effort , i hope so but im not that confident so far ,
