It has been on my mind all day. How easy some are forgetting the sacrifices that were made. A somber day and I for one won't forget.

Its an old British thing.
"My country, right or wrong, my Mother, Drunk or sober."
If you were R.A.F. back in he Cold War, If you got the old "
"This is a red flash message in 3 parts, Break, Break."
you weren't coming back.
It wasn't in the least bit heroic.
It was the job you signed up for.
& you WOULD get them before they got you. You were already dead. What else could they possibly do?

so i was working at the range today - i had occasion to mention the date many times today , i mentioned it was D-Day + 75 , repeatedly , i got more dumb looks than i want to remember , a few didnt get it even after i explained , im ashamed of our education system anyway but now im offended as well , how long will it be before we no longer remember 911 ??

we cannot forget

no reason not to remember

ill remember and i dont forget in august either when we ended WWII completely , so many things lost on the young till they get it slapped in their face , next go round will be a whole lot different

I spent the day reminiscing about the 75th of D-Day. I was there last year. We got to our rented villa on 5 June outside of Aromanche. I was able to be on the Juno beach at the same time 06 June, as the Canadians came ashore.
I scooped up some sand from that beach. It now sits on display in my Legion branch with a proper label & photo.
I enjoyed my time there. Reading / studying it isn't the same as actually being there.
We visited many Commonwealth graves.(I was surprised to see the many German graves in these burial sites & how well kept they were. They were/are certianly given the honourable burial & respect they deserved as well.)
It was a day full of rememberance for me.

Thank you MJ for this thread.  Too many of our leaders don’t want this to be remembered.  They only want to focus on the negative with the ultimate aim to seize more power.

Now, they are calling to abolish the police.  Wonder what they want to replace it with?  Perhaps a organization who swears allegiance to them personally?  Sound familiar?

Get's back to the old adage, "those that forget the past are likely to repeat it". Ask a person under 50 what happened 12/7/1941 or 6/6/1944. Most have no idea. Seem like it's not important enough to be taught in the schools anymore.

My Dad and all of my uncles were in WWII. Not a one of them would disrespect the flag like is so common today. So sad.........

When I see the destruction, mayhem, and lawlessness happening in the US, and my country, Canada, spurred on by Antifa and anarchist groups that have been waiting for an incident that, although horrific and senseless, was going to happen somewhere at sometime, I fear for democracy. I have been reading that there is a foreign country that has secretly been funding such groups for about three and a half years...

Gent's, it was the 76th anniversary of D-Day this year; if your counting. Last year was a big event due to it being the 75th anniversary; he!! they even invited Hoadie!

But yes you are correct that many people don't know.(or care). I've visited  Normandy a few times over the past few years. It is well worth the visit.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

The scariest thing of all is some of our elected members of Congress.  “The Squad” represents the beginning of the end of freedom in this country.  Socialism will arrive peacefully, in the polls, but only has one way to end.

my error - i said - typed 75 not 76 , sorry guys , my bad - fat fingers and bad eyes , but we all know and understand what we are talking about ,

scary how many dont recall what happened in 1917 in russia  or 1946-9 in china either , or for that matter in cambodia in 75-79 , they might think twice what they wished for - but then they are all too dumb to understand that ,
