Sharing a pic of my MK III that was used by the post war Austrian police. The marking is on the top of the barrel at the front of the receiver. First pic is the wrist markings. I've seen S&W revolvers with Austrian markings, this is the first I've seen on rifles.

looks like an export/import mark but i cant see it all that well , 

its a BSA made dispersal rifle from 1942 [i had one like it ] the little i see it looks real nice

Howdy;Not a export/import mark.
Oster Gendarmerie;Austrian Military Police formed post WW2 in British controlled area’s. 

That’s a cool find being a Dispersal rifle to boot.👍😉
Anyone seen the Tardis Box anywhere? 🤨

ok , i now see the description of the photo better in the picture , my old eyes just dont see these things as well as they used to , i did know they were used for that purpose , that one looks like it saw little use/abuse from what we can see of it ,

Dispersal rifles were sub contracted for many parts to multiple small businesses in a similar field to the part they were making. This "dispersed" production from the main factories which were being heavily bombed at the time.
Then all the parts would go to the factory for final assembly & test.
This reduced the chances of a catastrophic effect if the factory was damaged or destroyed because it was a kind of "cottage industry" that had no one place to be destroyed.
