Not alot of folk out there Notred that are willing to spend close to $1500.00 bucks after state and federal taxes are applied let alone that have that kind of spending cash just laying around, even if it is a piece of history. If you are wealthy, I can understand wanting to get something others cannot afford so, have at it but, there are others that have to constantly fight their inner demons as to if they are going to own a "cool gun" or, feed their family that month. It is probably NOT about being interested, rather more so about simply not having the finances to make the purchase. Go figure huh...

I had no problem accessing the page. The "shooting condition" whatever that is for over a grand killed any interest I might have had! Particularly with non-matching bolts. |

The non-matching bolts seems odd, the bolts were probably all removed prior to shipment and they didnāt bother to put them back into the correct rifle?

The bolt assemblies were all tossed into crates and trying to match each bolt to its corresponding rifle became too tiresome, according to Navy Arms. The magazines in the rifles are reproduction items as well because the original magazines cannot be found/located. Also according to Navy Arms.

Sounds like a rip-off designed to be sold to people with too much money IMHO.

The rifles are legit as far as having historical value scottz63. And more so with the fact that theses rifles were assembled and then shipped out to the resistance. Except for the rifles getting test fired before being shipped out, the possibility of these rifles never being fired from the resistance fighters is exceptionally high. The mismatched bolts aside, they still have historical history and value. Too rich for my taste however...

Ian at Forgotten Weapons did a review and he mentioned they matched what bolts they could find. Not sure how thorough they were though. You would think they would know matching rifles would command a premium.

im curious why we think the french were being air dropped essentially mk2 rifles that early in the war ? were the refurbs/conversions from mkI to mkI/2 occurring for the french ? at that point in the war ? just asking as im not really interested in buying one of these but also not willing to research the data required before i would , someone else looked at that ?

It seems odd that the 'sorted' rifles (with matching bolts) are being sold on gunbroker, along with a couple of boxes of ammunition, for $800 That price makes much more sense that the (up to) $1500 quoted for a non-matching numbers rifle. |

I myself do not think that in the slightest A square. If you are referring to how a rifle is listed on a sellers website, I have seen where someone will advertise a No4Mk1 as a No4/5Mk1/2SMLE just to make certain that ALL the bases are covered which could very well be why some sellers will buy a rifle because they can while not even knowing what they actually have just to make a profit...
