Yep! Those 2 PPCLI are verterans of KAPYONG ! The man on extreme left is Romeo. He's the president of the Niagara KVA. He was flown to Korea to do the documentary on Kapyong, few years back. He is the man that called the stonk down on their own position(over radio-following orders). The Kiwis asked twice if he was certain, as they knew that was the Canadian's position. After it was confirmed they opened up the barage. By that time they were damn near hand to hand with the Chinese. When the barrage had lifted, the Canucks were still on the hill. Chinese thought they were crazy people..maybe they were - but they held and bought time for the Americans to retreat up the valley. They were the only thing standing between the Chinese and the fall of Saigon. To this day, the PPCLI is the ONLY foreign military unit to have a U.S. Presidential citation / battle honour. It was presented by the President for their stand at Kapyong.
Proud to know these gentlemen.Sadly, theres less than 15 Korean vets left in Niagara. They have a very high early mortality rate, due to the "agent purple" they were exposed to. Hoadie |

Naw..Niagara Falls has that all covered. All the towers & hotels are rigged with lights. They will lite up Blue foe a boy, & Pink for a girl. The light show at the falls will reflect that as well - & I'm told the CN tower in Toronto is rigged as well.
(The Royal bundle still doesn't carry the excitement that the Lanc does!) Hoadie |

I am such a fortunate cuss!
TWICE this week, the Lanc did her prancing over the house. Yesterday, I was working in the store I'm putting together, & I could "feel" the rumble, before I could actually "hear" it. Dropped me paint brush & went outside. There she was..low & beautiful. Straight as an arrow toward Niagara Falls. She'll be heading to Blighty soon...to join up with the world's only other flyable Lanc.(owned by the RAF). They should be quite a sight & sound together, along with Spitfires & Hurricanes! I wont stop worrying about her till she's back in her nest in Hamilton in September. Hoadie |

Well, its pretty obvious our Lancaster (VeRA) is back... I could hear it, then saw her in the distance..but later on in the afternoon, she came in low and slow right over me while I was workin on an elderly veteran's yard(She was a CWAC in the 2nd twirl at war).
Flew right over the dang house, then a push on the engine revs - bank starboard - and take a tour along the Welland Canal to Lake Erie. For all the times I've seen & heard her..it STILL sends shivers up my spine! You just can't mistake the sound of a Merlin...or FOUR together! Hoadie |

My parents lived in Coventry during WW2. They spoke of the 1000 bomber raids passing overhead. The growl of all those engines made the ground shake. It often took 4 hours to pass...
