Hey what is the point of impact at 100 and 200 yards when the flip sight is set at 300 yards?
Any help sighting in this rifle would be greatly appreciated |

That will vary by Rifle
Theoretically the 300 yard setting will be about 6" high at 200 and 18" high at 100 but that will vary from one gun to another.
You can adjust the point of aim by replacing the front sight. They were made in different heights
Springfield Sporters has them sorted and sells them by height.

Its going to depend on bullet & velocity a little.
SW28's numbers are about the same as mine for MkVII ball.

According to the basic manual of military small arms the 300 yard leaf is good for 400 yards with bayonet removed and 300 yards with bayonet mounted. Practice of the era was that when the enemy was within 300 yards or less the bayonet was supposed to be mounted. The 600 yard leaf was for 600 yards without bayonet.
So if the front sight height is correct the 300 yard leaf should be zero'ed at 400 yards rather than 300 unless you have the bayonet mounted.

Yes there were 7 different heights varing in 0.015 increments from -0.06" to + 0.03" (including a "zero"). each 0.015" change was equal to a 2.77" change in POI @ 100yds. The sight is marked on the top flat, adjacent to the blade with it's height. The blade's height was identical for all of them to keep a "standard" sight picture, the change was in the thickness of the base of the sight.
The #1 & No4 sights are not interchangable.
