I got my first Enfield and I know it is a No 4 mark 1 but that is it.  Please help tell me the year and what the markings mean.  Thank you

I just get text, not a link. Even if I edit it to add the "IMG" tags it won't open.Shocked
"<a href="http://s1316.photobucket.com/user/kid_thunder/media/DSCN4108ms_zps199fd537.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1316.photobucket.com/albums/t617/kid_thunder/DSCN4108ms_zps199fd537.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo DSCN4108ms_zps199fd537.jpg"/></a>"

Try this:
Go to your P/B a/c, hover over the image you're trying to upload, (left) click on the "gearwheel" that appears in thr top right of the image. From the drop down set of choices pick the bottom (IMG) tag & (left) click on it. You should see a flash box saying "copied". Open a Word document & past the link into it. Hit [ENTER] twice.
Go back to P/B & repeat for every image you want to post here.

Copy the finished Word .DOC & paste into a post here.

Here's the link to the album with pictures: http://s1316.photobucket.com/user/kid_thunder/media/DSCN4108ms_zps199fd537.jpg.html#/user/kid_thunder/media/DSCN4089ms_zps89c59b10.jpg.html?&_suid=1368026448779010657671964959275
It's a No 4 Mk 1/2 that was FTR'd by Fazakerley. The wrist stamp looks like the work of the drunken stampers at Maltby but it's tough to tell for certain and I can't make out a year. It would need to be deciphered based on the serial.

The stamping is indeed a piece of work.  How you can tell it's a Maltby, I don't know.  Drunken machinists?  Looks more like a toddler group to me.

My '43 Maltby looks like it was stamped by an intoxicated, Parkinsons-afflicted chimpanzee.

It's more of a guess and turning my head just right and squinting at that stamping LOL. I can see the widely spaced "ROF" at the top then it appears to be that Maltby "M" beneath, but I'm not certain. What I do know is that on all rifles I have seen that the stampings were that bad, they all came from the Maltby plant.

I wonder if there is a set pattern, never was interested enough to check.
Ford engine numbers run a staggered sequence, supposedly to reduce restamping, it seems the forgers have difficulty reproducing the exact pattern, the brain wants to keep things straight and neat.

Sorry about the links guys...  Now you see the trouble I have been having, I am not even sure the year it was made.  Any idea what the semaphore looking flags are for on the top?

These are pictures of the left side of the wrist and the action.  Nothing on the right at all?
