OK, folks. Be gentle with me this is my first time, hosting a video that is.

A while back there was some discussion on bolt operating techniques & a video was suggested.
Here's my attempt at making that video.
Sorry about the image quality the camera is pretty low res so its best viewed with a partial screen size. If I didn't mess up horribly clicking on the link should take you to it.

A few errors on my part, but I was both "Crew" & "Talent' so it was a bit busy.

You don't "fire a trigger" you squeeze it.

The butt stock is pressed into the shoulder, immobilizing it. That's the secret to leaving the right hand free.

If, when you do the "hands on-hands off" test, it doesn't stay on target, then adjust your position so it does. This is your "natural" position to shoot in, practice it a lot. Get the sling "just right" then adjust position, sling, rifle & all till you "just fall into it" instantly.

When loading the 5-round chargers after firing 6 you breathe, cycle the bolt open, grab the next charger, load it & close the bolt all at the same time, not as a sequence of events. My sequence is  exhale as you eject, rest as you grab a  charger, inhale as you ram it in & close the bolt.Confused YMMV!

Anyway there you go. It takes a few seconds to load, particularly if your connection is a bit slow, have patience.

Good video! Thanks for that. Question...do you use snap caps while dry firing? Gorgeous rifle, love seeing it time and again. Please make more Lee Enfield videos, that is something badly needed on our site.

Cursed by my own "success" eh?
Dead
To answer your question no I don't. If you look at the design of the bolt &n striker, the stop collar on the striker hits the rear face of the bolt head. That isn't going to hurt anything.

Very informative, thanks Shamu.

I don't think I'll be a mad minute contender though because I'm a southpaw, unless I learn to do it right handed. But still useful stuff on that video.

Benny Hill? You must have cut the end bit where the scantily clad young ladies chase you....

Good work, Shamu! We can read about the techniques but it is much easier to understand seeing it.
