he!!o All Smile
Many years ago one of my colleagues gave me
a No 5 MK II jungle carbine. I would like to use the rifle but I need
a referral to a good gunsmith to do a safety check up and possible refinish
the metal.
I would be grateful for your suggestions
Many Thanks

I'm glad your seeking the professional advice, cuz theres a lot of "crap" out there, that could hurt folks.

Do you have any detailed pics of this critter?

Wheres "Ardsley" in N.Y.? (That's one I aint heard of afore.)

For loading pics (unless your a techno - saur like me), Bear, A Square or Shamu seem to know how to do those things.
I suspect they will be along shortly to wax eloquent on the ins & outs for you.

Ardsley is about 25 miles north of NYC and
5 miles west of White Plains... very close to the Hudson River

Basically you put it on a photo host like "Photbucket", which is a free service. Then you copy the link (title the site gives you) & paste it here using the "tree" button in the "post Reply" box.

I cam break it down more for you if you think it will help.

The (F), as mentioned above is Fazakerley, where it was made. It's a suburb of Liverpool, England where there was a Ministry of Defence factory that made small arms. Apart from the Indian sub-continent, the last place that was manufacturing Lee Enfields before it closed and I think I'm right in saying all purpose-made (as opposed to altered) No5's were made there.

Looks like a nice rifle. Hope you enjoy it.

I can't help you with a gunsmith, but personally would not refinish the metal.  It usually devalues them if refinished.

Best,
Richard.

For a gunsmith you could contact Brian d**k atl BDL. While I have not used his services personally; I have heard lots of good feedback regarding his work on Lee Enfields.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
