ive been in my usual holiday bah humbug funk , this is one of those times of year when my wife grows an extra set of hands an additional 24 hours a day and does not hesitate to delegate - im not really complaining , not really , i always do what is asked , yet standing in line at the post office today i realized just how many hours can be gained in a day by putting things on someone else ,

Its nothing but pure commercialism.
On the Canadian side - the stores have taken the American "Black Friday" concept & tried to milk the crap out of it. 1st off - its an American thing - nothing to do with Canada. 2nd: There is no "big Deals" to be had.(If you tell a lie loud enuf & often enuf - people will believe it). Then - they "extend" Black Friday to all week! What a croc! Same day - local radio station started playing Christmas music - nonstop, 24/7 - IT WASN'T EVEN DECEMBER!! (They still aint stopped, so I changed channel). Don't even get me started about the angry/pushy/rude people that have flooded the stores, malls &roads!!:x] Good will to man, my ass! |

Sorry I am getting into full Christmas mode (Being Single it is not much of a chore) Started mass production of Plum Puddings and have the Gew 1888/05 on the Wall. From the unit markings it was on the Western Front during the Christmas Truce of 1914

thanks - i was starting to think the american commercialism of a religious holiday had gotten out of hand - yes we were founded as a christiain nation in spite of what Obama may have said in his term of office - we were never a muslim culture and never will be , just watch as things play out ,

I don't think it quite that bad. Its just that the commercial interests are very loud in comparison to quiet (comparatively) family celebrations.

I have been wearing one of my favorite t-shirts for this time of year. It has the Grinch on it and says "Original Grinch". Suits me well. Humbug, indeed!

Well "Black friday" sales have crossed the pond too; and we are afflicted by them in Paris; all weekend. Could someone explain why it's called Black Friday? I have no clue!
I don't think Christmas trees and stuff should be allowed until mid December. When people are decking out there shops for Christmas just after Haloween; it really sucks the fun out the whole event! |

Its called that because if you don't have a good financial start to "the season" your business has a good indication it'll be in the red at the end.
I read somewhere that 25% of annual retail business happens during that time. |

"Every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips, should be boiled with his own pudding, and buried with a stake of holly through his heart." Charles d**kens.
People killed with holly stakes is on the downturn since you can't say Merry Christmas anymore. However, to fill that gap you can get shot in Chicago for nothing at all. What the heck. I can't give credit to the author of "A Christmas Carol" because it has d**k in it.
