Hi Everyone

I need some advice please regarding my Enfield,

I have a No4 mk2 that's in very good condition, all serial matching (wrist band, Action, bolt, Timber, Magazine) all have the same serial number, but when I took it apart to clean etc... on assembly when fitting the trigger guard, with the rear screw in I had to press the front of the trigger guard down about 5-8mm to get the action screw in, putting quite a bit of "spring" tension on it, is this correct?

The other thing I checked was the barrel center, the barrel seems to be centered but I can move it slightly more to one side than the other, is this fine or would this require adjustment?

Thanks :)

that would be normal i think as long as you did not do anything wrong with the rear screw - like crush the wood seating it ? the barrel is meant to float ,

but others way more knowledgeable will chime in soon to correct or confirm my comments - im not the gunsmith/armorer guru here by any means - im a collector

Perfectly normal, as long as the trigger guard lays on a strait edge & isn't bent or curved. The barrel should be free from the first inch from the knoxx form (flat on the breech end of the barrel) to the "pad" at the end of the forend.
Test by removing the handguards & sliding a dollar bill back & forth, if it slides freely its OK. Reassemble the forend the tip of the bore should be center bottom & need 5~7Lb of force to raise it up.
Actually you don't need to strip the wood for routine cleaning any way, just the bolt & magazine.
Don't shoot till you see the whites of their thighs. (Unofficial motto of the Royal Air Force)
