Riflemags.co.uk is an excellent source for brand new magazines for the No1 and No4 Enfield rifles.  Construction and finish is beyond expectations and well worth the cost, when they are in stock. That being to only setback. I took the chance a purchased two ten round magazines and two 5 round magazines and after the necessary tweaks to the mags to function in the desired rifle properly, I ended up being extremely happy with the end results. The five round magazines are flush mount with a slight convexity to the bottom.

Wish they made a 7.62 mag for the No. 4.

Your particular rifle was built as a single shot rifle for slow fire competition by Canadian Arsenal and they typically retained the standard issue magazine.  The magazine you are looking for to make yours cycle the 7.62 was made by Enfield for the L42A1 and will have CR 141A 65 stamped on the side. They are as rare as Unicorn poo and expensive to purchase when one is located. The one pictured cost me £250.00.

I might have to give up on that search.

I was able to fit a 7.62 mag for the Ishapore 2A rifle.  It is a repro, well made.  It will feed the rounds fine but no positive ejection.  I ground a bit off the inside edge of the extractor, and that helped, but still only weak ejection.

Now I know the price and example of Unicorn  poo.

Have to keep a eye out for it.

Sterling made 7.62 magazines but I was told that they do not work as anticipated.  Charnwood made them as well but I just assume that the ones that have those keep them in a bank vault next to the L42A1 magazine that sit next to a hoarded supply of toilet paper.

Have corn cobs to trade for Enfield magazine.

New unused fresh North Carolina corn cobs.

Better than the finest tp.

Send photo of magazine (s).

Hopefully not British service issue "Army Form Blanks", commonly referred to a "Bronco" which I think was the maker.

I pulled these from various interwebs and do not claim these as mine.

I actually had 3 magazines (numbered to the rifle) as issue with one of my Enforcers.

A few years ago (maybe 10 years) I managed to pick up about a dozen of the L42A1 magazines at a good price. Listed them on ebay 1 by 1 and they all sold to the USA at around £200 each

Seems I’m too late.

Just like I missed the days, not that long ago, of 1903 Springfields and M1917 Enfields sold through the CMP for $300.

Suggestion...
When looking for the 7.62 magazine, don't ask for one for the L42A1 ask for Enfield Envoy. They are usually a bit less expensive.
