I finally managed to find a WWI lighter in good condition. I've been keeping an eye out for one at local brocantes for a few years now. generally only finding incomplete or damaged examples.
This is made from a 1916 35-87mm she!! case. It is complete and still spark's nicely ans still has the wadding in the fuel chamber.
The 35-87 she!! case is not one that I know much about; so any info would be appreciated.
Luckily this Sunday I found a standard 35-87 she!! case to compare, and it is the same date: February 1916.
The primer is unstruck in the empty case. How should I neutalise the primer safely?
I cleaned the case in the ultrasonic bath with citric Acid to remove the tarnish. then a quick rub with Brasso.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

What a neat find!  As for the  primer  common motor oil will disolve  it  put a few drops of oil on it and let it sit for  a few days and it should be  dead, Accetone work quicker but you have to deal with the fumes
Have a Nice Day
If already having a nice day please disregard

The entire trench art aspect is amazing. It's astounding the craftsmanship some people did on bits like that.

Had another great find at our local brocante on Sunday.
Having checked out the 37-85 she!! case on the internet; I got a look at the complete she!! with the Ogive.
I was looking at one stall who had some military stuff; generally rough condition. But then I spotted a tiny steel Ogive. It looked exactly like what I had seen on the net.
Bought it for 4 Euro's. It's a prefect fit.

Also picked up another she!! case; looks like a 1917 date; but don't know anything about it yet!.It has a diameter of about 55mm at the top (inside).

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
