There is a simpler way than marriage.
Find a woman you don't like and buy her a house.LOL
Life.. a sexually transmitted condition that is invariably fatal.

there is always the cynical among us , but he has a minor point in that in those 18 'previous' years i mentioned i did buy a house for each of them , i have been in my present one 28 years - its a good point to consider , before you go there ,

the sense to what he is saying is that you are wise to wait a bit and not rush in , make sure your making good decisions and move forward when convinced you have the right one , i would recommend that as well , but i kinda got your telling us after all that ...

Well, she likes my house and wants to help me renovate it. She grew up with her dad moving from house to house, renovating and selling, but she wants to renovate and live. She loves the peace and quiet of my 6 acres. Her 18 year old son will be coming along but since he likes automotive stuff we are trying to push him to going to VoTech in Watertown ( where I went for computer science ) for automotive. We will see how this all works out. All I know is am happy.

If a man can have a place to call his own, work hard, the love of a good woman and be happy, I'd say they pretty much have it all.

I've been with my wife for the last 21 years; and married for nearly 18 of those.
We bought our house 13 years ago; and started renovating it. It's not finished yet; but we are getting close. When you have to work hard for the money, spend it wisely. It's often better to wait until you can afford to do a proper job; than rush it on the cheap. Invariably you'll end up needing to do it again!
Having a wife that will get stuck into the work along side you is a huge boost.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

bottom line my friend - we all wish you well  [better than we had in some instances] and do not want to any way dissuade , we all hope that this works fantastically for both of you ,

nice thing about a house project is it binds you to a common goal that both share in the reward of success in , do not get discouraged - compromise is good , and sometimes you will be amazed at the "visions" of another point of view , i have learned to turn certain things completely over to my wife , i see in three dimensions so spacial concepts do not escape me but she decorates them in ways i only see as boxes , the feminine touch can get out of hand but talk it threw before rejecting in kind , they do see things differently , think differently and you can adapt to both within reason , trust me on this , i have lots of practice before getting it right ,
