Hi guys,
Just joined the forum a little while ago as I have been slowly researching my 1908 Enfield LSA Sht LE Mk1*
Seems it was a Qld Govt purchase and issued to the Queensland Police (QGP) in 1908.
Was off Rack 199. Ian Skennerton was helpful with those details.
Was given to me by my ex-FIL a very long time ago and in storage for many years and has now joined in along with my collection of other military and vintage firearms.
Just wanted to share.
Also, does anyone happen to have a copy of the British Armourer's Guide or know where there is a copy available?
Tim

That's a great rifle to have in original condition. It is rare!  I hope it's all matching numbers.
LSA only made 7,000 of these Mk1* SMLE's.  Many were modified in service to Mk1*** specification.
1908 is the end of production, as it was replaced by the introduction of the MkIII.
I have a 1907 LSA, also in original condition.
Could you post some close up photos of the rear sight, bolt head , front sight and volley sights please.
I can highly recommend the book of the SMLE by or member Lance. It gives you the details on all the changes and evolution of the SMLE.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!

I'll have to take some as I have had it stripped for cleaning and I'm just waiting to bolt the stock back on.
