I have been gifted a Central Number 4 sight for my SMLE No4 mk1 but its is missing the mounting screws can anyone advise me what I'm missing?
I know I need the rear trigger guard screw and the safety catch but what else is need and can anyone supply pictures so I can mount this sight.

Sure. Do you have the mount bracket? ![]() ![]() It attaches with 2 screws. The rear trigger guard screw (extra long), & the existing safety screw. There's a co-axial screw in the bracket that is used to square the bracket to the rifle vertically. Then you need the bolt that attaches the sight body to the mount bracket. There's a "special" type of "Lever-lock" bolt with a wingnut that engages to tighten & releases to position it of the way, (top image) but standard bolts & thumb-nuts with a proper thread work perfectly. If you need one I have the black wing-nut shown in the pic which I no longer use as I've found the special lever-lock bolt. Just ignore the front, brass thumb-nut, it was my original till I found the correct one shown & I just keep it in the spare mount hole so I don't loose it. |
