A very pretty SMLE. No comment on barrel condition. Not mine & I’m in no way connected to the seller.

Same. FalFiles has a lot of of BS and some interesting individuals but it's a pretty solid site for info and other bits. Photo of the bore of the posted enfield looked pretty solid.

I shared it with a buddy Friday - he bargained with seller and bought it. So when he gets it I'll get to handle and shoot it. I almost pulled the trigger on it as for what it was the price - being negotiable was not all that bad.

So figured I’d give everyone an update (will try to have pictures here soon)the Rifle arrived Wednesday just brought it over to Bubbas place and me and him took a look into it we believe it is a dispersal rifle overall we’re both fairly impressed with it we cleaned the bore on the BSA barrel and it came out flat mint!

Yes , it is a nice looking SMLE. The bolt was scrubbed and numbered to match - very well could be period when it was rebuilt in the early 1940's. Has a beech forend , top long handguard. Walnut buttstock and small handguard. The barrel is a commercial BSA with stacked rifle logo on Knox form. L/S of barrel has an english proof and is stamped nicely "Nitro Proved". Import mark is tiny and on back right side of receiver and think it's samco global arms. Top tiny flat of receiver at chamber has stamped 303 british in tiny fonts. Bore looked dirty , but after a few brushes with bore solvent and a couple patches it's quite the cherry and sharp. Rear sight is mismatch , but nose cap is original and matching to action - not renumbered to match . Even though it's not got a sold out of service mark - likely would have been on original barrel . I do think this a dispersal rifle that was reintroduced from a private citizen or a shooting club in time of Englands need then. I base that on the commercial BSA barrel that is proved Identically to a 1940 dispersal I had 25 years ago. If the forend is taken off there may be more barrel proofs to meet the eye. Also the barrel is serialed to the receiver in perfect british style as you would expect to see. It's great beginner or shooter example of an SMLE.

Would be curious to see more pictures, the bolt looks like it could be a BSA commercial bolt. Overall similar appearance to the ‘52 & ‘53 BSA FTRs.
