I’ve had this rear sight since I brought home my Dads assorted parts from various rifles.  I didn’t know what it was for until I came across this photo in Skennertons book (page 271).  According to Skennerton, its a target sight for a Pattern 1914 No. 2 rifle, .22 Mark IV.  A No. 10A aperture sight.  It is windage adjustable, similar to the Ross rifle aperture sight. HWC (Harold W. Cooey) manufactured.  Likely used for small bore competition.  

I don’t know why Dad had this sight, I don’t think he had a No. 2 rifle in .22.

It looks identical to the rear sight on my M-10 Ross rifle. I don't like it as much as the No.4 Lee Enfield sight but it works not bad.
The Lee Enfield is to the Canadian north what the Winchester repeater was to the American west.   Cal Bablitz

thats one that has alluded me , but i have all i can do to get mine to the range as it is , i am content - yet looking
