A bit rude of me not to introduce myself before posting several queries.  People here have been really helpful.

I moved to Utah from Western Australia in December 2010 and bought a place in Alpine.  Last year, I picked up a SMLE No1 MkIII (Ishapore 1953) at a gun show for $225.  Bargain, I thought.  They are often more expensive back in Perth.  Anyway, I've been having fun developing a handload that replicates the 174 gr/2440 fps milspec, and now I'm trying to get the gun shooting to point of aim.

I'd really like to get a Lithgow from 1918 or earlier.  Anyone in the States got a good one they want to sell?  Would also like to get a good No4 MkI....

Eventually, I want to shoot in the VIMBAR competitions at the Golden Spike range.  Need to get a bit more practice with the SMLE and get it shooting properly.  But if there's anyone out there in Utah who wants to get together for some informal shooting, drop me a PM.

Apart from playing with my Lee Enfield, I regularly shoot SASS matches, have a couple of bolt-action rifles that I'm working up loads for, shoot muzzle-loaders with the Mountain Men of the Wasatch and the Free Mountain Trappers of Ogden, mess around with cap-and-ball revolvers, occasionally shoot a round of trap, and generally have fun plinking.  Moving to the States from Australia has made me a bit gun-crazy.  Too much freedom!

Another welcome!  I have actually been to Perth back in the early 1980s when I was in the Navy.
If you think you ar bad you should see what the British ex pats are like when they move to Texas.
One, once brought eight handguns to the range! Another collects German pistols which I suppose provides balance for my collecting Enfields.
Have a Nice Day
If already having a nice day please disregard

Hello and welcome! Enjoy the shooting, it's a great hobby. Cowboy action is currently the fastest growing shooting here in the US.

Thanks, guys.  I'm having a blast over here.  Apart from the shooting, I'm living in the best part of the world for hiking.  I miss my mates in Perth, but not much else about the place.

Hey Aussie, welcome to the forum from another West Aussie (Geraldton), I'm still here but.
The way things are going here it might be time for a move though, it's looking like we are about to get another shafting re firearms legislation.

Get out now, before they take all your guns.  WA is run by a bunch of muppets.  It doesn't seem to matter whether the government is Labor or Liberal, the cops always seem to call the shots on firearms legislation.  WA cops think that they should be the only ones allowed to own guns.  So glad I live in a State where most police are pro-gun.

Latest over here is that a couple of weeks ago police raided a home on drug related matters. They found 3 grams of meth and the bloke was a licenced firearms owner with 13 firearms.
He was charged on failing to keep ammo safe as they found some ammo in a bedroom not locked in a safe. So charges were failing to keep safe and a minor drug possession charge.
The drug possession has been completly forgotten and politicians of all persuations and the police commisioner are all horrified to here that you can legally own 13 firearms, their reasoning is that nobody needs that many.
So in short I reckon it wont be long before we are restricted in the amount we own.
I guess those who own more will either have to give them up or become crims.
On the back of this is news that police in Sydney have charged  post office worker with the illegal importation of about 220 baby glocks. Only one has been recovered and that was used in a driveby. The rest are out there somewhere.
