Just purchased my first Enfield yesterday at a gun show..It is a No 5 MK1 (F) date of 9/47 serial # AB9641...loved the look and feel of it...After doing some research on it found all serial numbers match..(receiver, bolt, and barrel)..However I found what is labeled as an "ejection" screw on the side of the receiver & have no idea of its purpose?  Am I missing a part?? Hopefully I'll get to the range to fire it someday..

Thanks...appreciate all the info I'm finding in the different forums..Smile

Hey there. Without seeing a picture it sounds like the extractor screw that the case hits and flicks out of the action when pulling the bolt back to reload.

If the screw is positioned about 1/2 way along the flat left side of the receiver then it is the ejector screw. it should just protrude into the breech without dragging on the bolt body.

Interestingly it is not needed to eject fired cases, this is done by having spring pressure from the extracter claw force the case rim into the tapered cutout inside the same left side receiver wall. The screw is only used to pop out unfired cases that have more weight up front in the form of the bullet.

No problem. Its an odd system to say the least (not using the ejector to eject that is)Approve

Thanks...took it out to the range for the first time...has quite a kick to it, but very accurate...think I'm going to need a shoulder pad to absorb the recoil...Smile
