a dixieland festival for his band in honor of the countries 200th anniversary , it occurred over the week of the fourth that year , it was used for a lot of years after that and ended up in the local history museum,

he knew i had been involved in an architectural project for a town square of a very american roots small town in iowa that was well known for at least three things prior to that request , it was known as John Waynes childhood home , the set for the movie cold turkey and for the book "the bridges of madison county" that was written by a family friend [seven covered bridges that are a landmark out here] they are quite nice ,

at about this time of year that year , i was tasked with designing a mobile performance stage on a mobile home trailer chassis ,  i drew the plans and designed the structure then worked with the carpenter to build it for that festival , a couple of band members donated items to make it more real and a couple actually helped with the project , painting and building some of the detail work , somewhere here i have a photo with the band on stage - ill have to shoot a copy and post it ,

my point being that back then i was involved in actually making some of the celebration happen , this year my wife wants to travel and experience some of this celebration , im good with that she wasnt in my life 50 years ago , she did see the band play on that stage before it went to the historical society museum for a few years  but it wads a good decade later ,
also im 76 , i dont want to work on the cellebration this time i want to enjoy it
