I was given a handful ( about 15) "125 Gr. AK-47" bullets to work up a possible light plinking load for the #4 Mk2. They are mostly FMJ, but there are a couple of ballistic tip types as well with a red plastic tip. Weighing them they come out to 123 Gr, OK so far, but here's the problem. They mic to .308", not .310, or 311! I thought the Russian bores needed .3105~ .311" bullet to fit correctly?

Are "AK-47 bullets" .308" or is something whacky here, & more importantly can I use them in the rifle without messing up the bore?

They do pass the bullet test at the muzzle BTW if that makes a difference.

There can be issues with undersize bullets and a poor gas seal, it is the sort of thing that varies rifle by rifle

I've heard that. I guess that's what prompted me to do the bullet test when I discovered the different than expected size.

I would suggest the red plastic tips are A max accuracy rounds. The AKs are usually 310 diameter. After the 70s they were issued with new AK 74 with 5.45 rounds.
