he!!o.
First post here on this awesome resource! I used to own a No5 while living in Florida and was dumb enough to sell it... Now back in France (that was dumb too), I am looking for another one (at 3x$ ).I saw one online but the bolt lever isn't hollow, just plain with a flat spot... Everything else seems to check out, lightening cuts, sights to 800, maybe the bolt was just replaced. I am looking for a shooter so that would not bother me much. The markings on the left side of the receiver are worn out though... Here are a few photos, I would greatly appreciate you guy's opinion, is it real? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thank you! Gil.

Well, the seller says the numbers match, bolt, receiver and magazine.
The mystery deepens... Gil.

Alot of the BSA Shirley/M47C made No5Mk1 rifles that I have seen and the two that I have owned, have had solid bolt handles along with matching serial numbers to the reciever.

thats a later BSA , both of mine were early and had the hollow bolt handle , but this was made after the war , they may have been using up parts left in the aftermath or as suggested it could have gotten swapped out and force matched be the armorer ,
glad you have joined us and are enjoying it here
