Does anyone know what the diameter of the threaded brass rod that was installed in the back end of the SMLE foreend is? I need to get some but have no idea on size and am having difficulty in finding that info

I would be interested in this as well.

Do you have a video showing how it is used?

They are actually a "Brass Repair Wire", & truly as common as chicken's teeth!
I've used threaded brass rod in 3/32" diameter. But its not "right", the original threads are a much coarser pitch & have coarser threads with a narrower size.

Paddy, they are the little brass "dots with wings"" you see in various places on the stock, that's the end-on view of the reinforcing rod. They are screwed into pre-drilled holes then cut off & filed flush to reinforce weak spots in the stock design.
If anyone has some I'd love to buy a couple of lengths from you too.Embarrassed

I saw Brownells had some 3/32" brass pins for stock repair and that brought up the question. I have a couple reproduction foreends and they don't come with the wire in them. They can do without it, but it would be nice to have the reinforcement there.

They were available as "bundles" a while back, but I haven't seen them in a long time.

The wire woiuld be nice, but how are you going to thread it?
It would work for purely cosmetic purposes though.
