I have decided to make my latest No4 Mk1 a project rifle.
The reason being:
1: It is not as original as my other rifles, but does appear to be in good shootable condition!
2: I fancy the challenge and learning that goes with it.

First strip down/inspection of the rifle, when I bought it, showed that the Knox form contact was poor.
The surface in the fore end is uneven in this area. So the first job wil be to correct this problem.
For that I have prepared a piece of old oak, cut along the grain and shaped, by boiling for around 20 minutes then gently pressing into a curve across the grain and allowing to dry over a few days.
This will make a suitable pad for the knox form contact patch.

If all goes well with the knox form, I will use similar materials for the barrel centre bedding.
I will try and keep to traditional materials.
Only minor issue at the moment is that I need to test the rifle, to get an idea of it's accuracy prior to touching it (obviously if it's a tack driver, I'll leave it alone).
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice!
