I actually switched from Google when I was still working. Google Chrome runs some background stuff that caused glitches in the  3D drafting software I was using.  IT told me to delete Google and load another browser.

I've been with Firefox for a while.
It has its own set of add on ad & popup blockers  other tools like "Ghostery", & "F/B Container" which block just about everything obnoxious.

Google goes out of their way to make ad blocking difficult with Chrome since that's where they earn a lot of their profits.

Firefox plus an ad blocker like uBlock Origin should work great.

I use something called "pihole" that is free software that runs on Linux to block all ads (and malware) for any device on my home network.  It just drops that stuff on the floor, so to speak, before any of my devices will see it.  I have it running on a raspberry pi computer that's about the size of a pack of cigarettes and uses only a couple of watts of power.

Not really for the non-techies out there, but works great and doesn't require a client on every device.

Happy to assist anyone who wants to do this on their network.

Best,

Firefox with "Adblocker" & "popup blocker", free add-ons is absolute magic.
I also added "F/B Container" which isolates F/B from poking its nose in.
