Welcome to the forum. Lots of hard work. there is several posts here regarding removal of the cosmoline. Kerosene works well. I have use GUNK engine degreaser but I caution you it rinses with water so be sure to dry and oil everything to prevent rust.

Otay. Cookie has been bugging me about getting on board here so Here I Am. I had only one Enfield. It now belongs to Cookie. Thats OK. I know where it is. On the other hand, he bought a true diamond in the rough at a show in Southaven, MS for $40. We took it to the house and after lotsa RemOil, bore cleaner and a couple of six packs, we had it ready for ammo. I am indeed a strong supporter of the right to keep and bear arms and keep my nose to the wind for any of the nefarious laws that Sara Brady's people try to sneak into law. I have already beaten up on my respective state and federal "representatives" (what a joke). I have a couple of toys, not as many as others and not as many as I'd like.
Cookie and I used to share a bike ride or two. Matter of fact we met on the Honda VTX Owners Assoc website. I tried to kill myself on mine and haven't ridden since. Maybe next year.
We have gotten up well before anyone else has to stalk arboreal rodents and the white tailed antlered ungulate. Ya'll know the drill.
We killed his computer once with a tequila toast. His spouse was not happy with us with air guitar at 2am.
I'm living in Little Rock now. I made a brief sojourne to Lincoln, NE and that just wasn't right for this "Southern Man". Glad to be back where folks talk normal, you can order sweet tea and they don't look atcha funny and you can get decent TexMex.

he is correct he had an Enfield was a WWII vintage Savage "US Property" the Diamond in the rough he is refering to was that 1918 BSA restoration project posted on here somewhere. Yes were were listening to some Vintage rock and roll one evening into the next morning do our own home made version of Karoke including air guitar, air drums, and what we thought at the time some pretty good vocals. Somewhere in the wee hours of the morning the computer took a shot of tequile on the keyboard, well that ended our night of being rock and roll stars. Hokiehi is an avid collector of Mil surp rifles, he will be an excellent addition to the forum.Welcome to the forum Hokiehi

Hi to all you shooters,(booze and rifles). I'm up in the Great Northwest. I am an Electrican for the school district here in Bremerton, WA. I've always had an interst in old rifles. In the past i've owned a, Hawkens 50 cal, Blackpower Rifle an assorted .22's. This last year I decided to get back into shooting again. I'm a hands on type of person so watching from the sidelines wasn't fun anymore. There is nothing more gratifing than putting the rifle against your shoulder and sending that bullet down range to hit that small piece of paper, and hoping for a nice grouping. I've always wnted to own WWII rifles, so last year for my bday I went to Big5, and bought a 1942 Mosin-Nagant 91/30(all matching# except the mag floor plate). I'm working on a wish list, that also includes a, M1 Garand, k98 Mauser, 1903 Springfield and an other MKIV Enfield. A little of my familey histery includes, my Dad's shooting feats at Ft Perry OH. Back in 1930 he was one of the team sent from WA. to participate at the NRA National matches. He scored 49 out of 50 at 1000yrds and 46 out of 50 on the 200yrd slow fire. I've often wished I could have seen him shoot that match, but I wasn't even a "gleam in his eye",as the saying go's. Anyway thanks for the forum.

Hi from Northern Utah. I just got an enfield No4 MKI* (from what I understand). I am playing with it, I love it it is my first rifle. It has been sporterized but is very clean. I tried to shoot and think did good at 50y with an elbow rest. Not so good at 100y but I do need practice to find the right sight pictures. I live in Utah with family, Have been introduced to guns and hunting later in my life and I love it. I am learning a lot from reading forums and bugging people at the range. Hope I'll be able to bug you with my stupid questions too... Cheers y'all |
