Is this an Ishy?

   It's being advertised as a "No1 MkIII". No mention of it being an Indian made rifle. It also has the infamous "FR" stamp I assume?

I have very little info, but the asking price is $350 what's your opinions?

	Always looking for military manuals, Dodge M37 items,books on Berlin Germany, old atlases ( before 1946) , military maps of Scotland. English and Canadian gun parts.

	That was what I was thinking. Any idea what the heck this thing is? It has an Ishy screw in the stock. Habib's hose of 1,000 delights & gunsmiffin' in the khyber pass?

	A rifle that was reworked in India. It could have beem made in country or just reworked in country. According to Edwards (India's Enfield) The first FR program at Ishapore started in 1922 (until 1932) and was restarted in 1941and continued into the 1970s. The complete scrubbing or receivers is associated with this program starting in '41 (so well before independence). Edwards says: "...Both MkIII and MkIII* receivers were used and had all existing marks removed....New Ishapore barrels were fitted as were new rear sight bases and sight leaves....All weapons were renumbered. Based on our analysis it appears that this numbering began with the "Z" series and worked backwards in the alphabet....Both newly maufactured as well as refurbished/repaired woodwere used as the furniture for all these weapons..."(p69

	With bugger screws the rifle may not have had the best care.

	i think you chose wisely - not near enough photos to say for certain what it is but its not something i would gamble on with info provided ,
