All this talk of Afghanistan has brought me back to Cpl Furlong, possibly one of the least recognized snipers of modern warfare.  He is truly a fine example of what a motivated PPCLI sniper and his rifle can do (Ha you all thought I was gunna say Marine didn't, I've seen the movie tooTongue)

Seriously though he reached out and touched someone 2430m away (7972 ft for those that don't do meters)

Heres the Maclean's Magazine write up on it, not a bad read

Full Metal Jacket is an absolute classic
But the winters coming,

And the snow will cover tracks,

And I'll be watching,

Because I'm hunting you

I watched his interview on youtube. The soldier in the video time 7minutes 49 seconds is my 3rd cousin posted in Gagetown New Brunswick.

Is he posted to the School Kodiac?

Did the like the part about using the American ammo as they ran out of their own.

that rifle has such a recoil that your only allowed to fire it X numbers of times a day, or you run the risk of detaching your retina

Thanks Rob Wish I could have been there to cheer you on. I made a couple of shot back when but not even close to that.  Ya See a rice paddy ain't quite that big. Any way I have it on good authority that some of them Rag heads are taller than guys wearing black pajamas. Course I guess that if your short then putting bushes in your hat will only work if you are short. My thought is that the caves in Tora Bora are taller and wider than the spidey holes in da jungle.

I do note that we wont have much of a problem with the Jihadists using a 50 to keep us out of the fight. The only folks even worried about a bad guy using a 50 Cal Shooter would be politicians and bad judges and lawyers. Why do you think they wont allow the home boys in Californicator to own a big 50? They have so many rotten politicians and judges on the take in CA. The tree huggers are worried that they wont be able to buy a judge if they are all being shot for taking bribes. How do you think that a Judge or a Politician in the Bay Area that only takes home 50 grand a year can live in a 5 million dollar mansion be driven around town in a bullet proof Suburban and watched over by 5 guys working for BlackWater Security.

Still back to Mr. Furlong now. I hope it is Mr. Furlong Too many tours makes Rob a dull Boy. Keep Sharp Sir If Your in Need just give me a yell I been there and back before. I can float you for a time.
