Absolutely!  Even though I was the issue of the Canadian branch of the Williams clan I've always considered myself more American than Canadian and worked hard to be able to move back to my Homeland which I was finally able to do in 2001.  There is direct genealogical evidence that the first of my family, John Williams settled in Schuylerville, NY in 1774 as an adult and cleared 40 acres of land and was a prosperous farmer.  There is circumstantial evidence that I am related to Thomas Williams who arrived with other pilgrims aboard the Mayflower or Roger Williams who arrived in Plymouth in 1631 or 32.  In any event, I am a proud American who reclaimed his birthright and am just that; an American!

Mine were United empire loyalists, got the F out of dodge after the revolutionary war. I guess they loved the crown too much.
Myself, I think the crown is a waist of human flesh and O2. I too am an American, as we all live in North America, born and bred. Wink

That is the same reason I came to be born in Canada:  some of the Williams clan were also U.E.L. and fled America in 1778 after General Burgoyne was defeated at Saratoga.  They ended up carving a home out of the "howling wilderness" that was West Lake. Ontario in the 18th Century.

My kin settled in the Brantford area mixing blood with the Bells, My maternal family name is Liscomb.
Then some East Prussian blood, Kuglin and then more English/Scottish blood and now Austin.
We`re all immigrants to this part of the world no denying that. But immigrants that made what we are now.
