Just askin ................. As this is posted in the Ishapore section of the forum, are you looking to install some in an Ishapore rifle ? The reinforcing 'tabs' were only used on Australian No1 Mk3 because they used a softwood called 'coachwood' and it could not 'take' the recoil. As far as I am aware Ishapore never used softwoods or reinforcing tabs in their rifles.

You are correct that I plan to use them on an Ishapore.
The one I have has suffered from over oiling and the draws were quite bad I have already used Acraglas to get them where they should be but I keep thinking that those tabs would be a great more traditional reinforcement.

Lithgow recoil plates.
These plates were made of brass or copper, and were 17/32 inch by 7/16th inch in size, (.428 by .528 inch on calipers) and .125 inch thick. They are held in place with everyday 1/2 brass countersunk wood screws, and the holes are located dead center of the plate. I've also heard that the "keeper plates" trapping the wires in a 3-pin electric plug are a viable replacement. |

Considering that both of my Ishapore rifles are modified “Gibbs / Navy Arms” carbines and will never be tack drivers. My range results have improved from shotgun patterns to about 2 1/2” groups at 25 yards. Which, for my old eyes, is pretty good. The main achievement has been to stop the further destruction of the wood. So I’m happy.
