My 1947 Ishapore

   In a recent posting I stated I just purchased this rifle for $200. It came with the sling, pull through cleaning kit and 100rds of 1950 FN ammo. She is old and has that " Been there and done that" look. All parts marching and a nice shiny bore with good rifling. Thanks for the previous help on the rifle. Ed

	The barrel at the muzzle has been eroded by improper use of a pull through. The "rope" gets embedded with all sorts of funky stuff & end up being like sandpaper. If there's an FTR the damaged barrel may have been replaced. Cord wear is usually limited to the end of the bore sometimes a couple of inches. It could be counterbored to improve accuracy i its still the original bore.

	Thank you for that information. I had taken this rifle apart to check it out and do some cleaning. It does have the original barrel and No FTR marking. See the attached PIC's. The muzzle does appear to be worn to a degree. The overall bore and rifling are nice. I guess they were serious about cleaning their weapons. I have seen this before on other weapons but it was because of using a metal cleaning rod the wrong way. Will have to shoot it and see if I can get a good group. If not it stay as is. Again thanks.

	Not quite it was actually worn by a cord, the one in the butt trap. It was supposed to be used by 2 squaddies, one holding the rifle the other working the cord in a strait line, then they swapped. Some couldn't or wouldn't wait & did it alone dragging the cords over the muzzle at an angle.

	Cord-Wear was one of the most common reasons for inaccuracy and barrel damage. Looking at your pictures I can see no evidence of cord-wear certainly not anything major. Armourers Notes 1945

	Sir, thank you for that information. Looks like a interesting manual. Is it British or Indian? I will have to shoot the rifle to see how accurate. I have a 25yd range only. Will tell me if I can get a group or not. I have 15 0ther British Empire Enfields. First time I encountered the "W".
