I ordered some parts from Liberty Tree to “restore” my 1917 No1 Mk3* and ran into some issues. Got a nose cap and the screws and nose cap nut. The screw for the nose cap nut are not the same thread. The nut has a larger hole than the screw and the longer screw that goes through the nose cap isn’t quite long enough to thread into the off side of the nose cap. Is there something unique about these parts?

part of your problem may be what got ordered ? the no 1 mkIII* is brit and the no1 mk3 is indian , the bits may have compatability issues , but remember these were hand fitted individually , not the interchangeable parts we americans grew up with ,

OK, what "Nut"?
AFAIK there isn't one?Confused

There should be 2 screws. One goes in vertically from below & the other sideways through the forend wood. There are 2 versions of the transverse one, one with a smaller head, the other with a larger. (It was used to secure the add on "Flanders Flap") but, apart from cosmetically, they're interchangeable.

Well I’m confused… at least I’m confusing myself.  My receiver is stamped as below.

I thought GM stamps were Indian and mine is also stamped Mkiii*.

Also there are two screws on the nose cap. The vertical one is short and threads into a t-shaped nut that is inletted into the stock. My screw is a smaller diameter than the nut and doesn’t thread into it. The other screw is the horizontal one and goes through a hole in on side of the nose cap and passes through the stock and threads into the other side of the nose cap. It is too short and barely reaches the threaded hole. See numbers 43, 45 & 46.

Shoot safe…

Your rifle was made at Enfield. The GR stamp is for King George ( George Rex).

Ok… I got that part. Thanks for clearing that up. How about the differences in the nose cap schematics. Shamu’s shows what appears to be a wood screw on the bottom. Mine has a machine screw with a nut.

I just spoke with Lee at Liberty Tree and they had a mixup in their nose cap screws. It seems they inadvertently sent me a screw that was filed wrong on their end. He corrected their error and is sending me the proper screw set at no charge. Kudos to Liberty Tree Collectors!

Hopefully I can get this project finalized soon.

OK thats good news.
I see your confusion, I'm looking at #46 & you've got #39 I think.
