I'm new to the site and a new enfield owner. Im in pensacola fl, and I just recently got my first enfield on a trade. I have always liked them and I just couldn't pass it up. I have a (well done) sporterized mk4 no1. I don't know a lot about it,other than it shoots like a dream. The guy I got it from said that it was sporterized by Parker hale, but I have no idea how to confirm this. He may have just looked at the front sight and saw it says Parker hale and just assumed. I only have the one pic for now but I'll post more tomorrow. Thanks

Charlie

"PH" stamps scattered about will be a clue. Just a front sight might be a PH add on, but usually there will be some indication of the PH parentage if its really a PH. They did make quite a few sport versions based on Lee Enfield actions (among others).

The magazines in the pic look aftermarket, how many round do they hold? If you find there are feeding troubles you might want to look there first as many of the commercial mags were a bit "iffy". You can probably get a real MilSpec Mag for $25~$35 if you need one. I'd also confirm the loading as .303 Brit, many were converted to other calibers when sported. Here's how a real milspec .303 Brit mag should look. Check out the bottom metal for the bigest clue to the difference.

Welcome aboard, we eagerly await more pics.

Good eye... they are 10 round pro mags. They cycle fine with no feed problems so far, they are just a pain to load. The round holder.teeth things aren't quite bent in far enough so I have to load 3 or so rounds in there before they stop wanting to pop out.I'll post up some more pics here after dinner.

Thanks
Charlie

if they do feed id not mess much with the mag , but tell me - do those three all pop out at once when you shoot the rifle ???

incidently to pre-emt another less gratious retort [  :>}   not implying anyone specific]

its a no4 mkI .......not "sporterized mk4 no1"  , i realize your 'new to these' but its important to get the nomenclature correct , there is no no1 rifle in a mk4 varrient , only the no2 mkIV

My bad that's what I meant to put. I have mild dyslexia from a tbi I suffered in Afghanistan. So some times stuff just gets jumbled Between my head and my hands...

No they don't all pop out at once. It only happens with loading. Doesn't effect feeding or shooting.

thats good , i can see where it is probably irritating but nice to know it functions correctly when loaded ,

BTW the nomenclature thing is a common thing with new enfeild enthusiasts , it takes a little while to catch the rythem of the martkings and even longer to grasp the reasoning behind them but i say this by reason of telling you to go easy on yourself - quite common
