Thanks for the concern. I am being careful with this; as that is my way with most thing's in life!

did not mean to preach - i expected as much , i just had a bad experience with both a gas stove and lantern in past life experiences that i wish on no-one ever ,
my wife had a bad experience with gas as a starter for a fire once as well , i tend to kerosine these days

Oh the tales I could tell of my spanking new Coleman Exponent hi tech multi-fuel titanium stove that never worked till it melted down completely, even after the fuel tank was removed! ![]() ![]() |

The GI model looks at bit more robust than that one Shamu. However I do take on board your warnings. They are known for burning eybrow's apparently when lighting from cold. Having already witnessed a colleague ignite the fuel vapour in a vehicle petrol tank in our workshop; I'm fully aware of the risk of getting it wrong. All I can say is that day; we were very lucky indeed. Next day I had a shooting competition and it's fair to say I still had the heeby jeebies!

Yep, the newer Coleman stuff is pretty disappointing, the old stuff was great though. I went back to my old Swedish Army mess-skit with the Trangia alcohol burner. |
