he!!o fellow gun owners. First off I'd like to thank for allowing me to join your forum and for taking a look at this post. I just traded my Henry .22 for a lee enfield .303. Awesome trade, I know. While looking it up, I have literally devoured the Internet trying to find out specifics about this beautiful weapon. On top of the whole assembly it says US property. On the side it has "S No 4 MkI*" the metal strap looking thing has the serial number 0032896 with a B below that. I have pictures don't worry. It seems to look more like a Jungle Carbine but I honestly have no idea. Please help me identify this weapon.

its a savage made no4 mkI* , that is a styleized "S" before the marking , the US PROPERTY mark indicated it was made under lend lease , the serial number actually has a "C" after the first or second digit , as its a mkI* instead of a mkI im thinking you need to take a closer look at the first three digits of the serial ,

"It seems to look more like a Jungle Carbine but I honestly have no idea."Without a picture of the whole thing its hard to tell, but from your description it sounds like you have a sporterised rifle. Sporter conversions vary widely depending on the skill of the person doing the work, It could be a nice rifle, it might be restorable, depending on how far the sporterising went, some were irreversably boogered by Bubba. The stamps say its a No4 Mk1* so it shouldn't look anything like a No5 "Jungle Carboine", but it should look like this:

if it was sported by 'santa fe' it might well look like a 'jungle carbine' as well

Sure, commercial sporters were made as well as home brewed ones.
Does it say anything like "Santa Fe", or "Golden State" anywhere on it?

I have one also I am questioning. I was told the previous owner shot .308 from this but I want to be sure.
