yes , but i actually think he is honestly still confused as to what it was , or perhaps i am naive ....
 
in any event , the truth is out there , if he sells that receiver to a collector with stamina there is hope of salvaging another lost piece of history - that someone might think had been 'cut'

Thanks for the interesting information,  A square 10.    I used a little 'poetic licence' when I said 'prototype'.  I did know it was the first version of the SMLE and that not too many were made and that they went back to the original design but with new changes which also allowed the updating of older rifles by fitting the new clip charger bridge and adding the thumb cut-out and changing the trigger bits.  The bolt head charger guide may not have been too successful or it was too expensive, I don't know.

I would like to see my action body go to someone who wants to rebuild one of those first steps in the evolution of the SMLE.  But as I've said before, the bolt head has had the clip charger mounting rails removed. Cry  I'm looking not to make money out of it but I would like another action in return so I can keep my project going which is only a hunting rifle (with a little history).

i suspected you "knew" but wanted the readers who didnt to know as well ,
 
as before i wish you luck on your trade , alas i dont have one to offer , if i come accross one ill get in touch , i have mentioned to a number of folks that there is one available but so far i guess none have contacted you , and again id like to see your project photos as it progresses ,
