Yeah Smokey they are. They bite the tops off the newly planed pine trees. I have shot 74 goats off that block in less than a year.

They are all reloads as you cannot buy 303/25 ammo. I neck down 303 brass with a 303/270 die and then I use the 303/25 FL die and seating die. Once I have fire formed cases I neck size only. I seem to be getting heaps of reloads from each case. I don't use hot loads as the lighter loads are more accurate in my rifle. I use 87gr Sierra Varmints @ 2950fps and 100gr Sierra pro hunters @ 2850fps and both loads use the same ammount of powder 33gr ADI AR 2208 or Varget.

In the meantime, I'll post a pic of mine.

It's a handsome cartridge, perfect for a break action single shot (or a Ruger No1 falling block).

What ranges are you taking those goats?

I am working up a load for my 303-25 in the range of 35-37 gr 2208 with 90 gr Sierra Game Kings, but haven't taken it out hunting as yet.

Hopefully goats and smaller deer.

That's a nice conversion of your No4. Smile

Hey Joey, Those Goats are being dropped up to 250 yards. I had to reduce my loads to get better accuracy. Mind you the 100gr 33gr AR2208 is only half a grain from max load 33.5gr. The 87 gr max load is 37gr AR 2208. I think the 90gr Game Kings would be awesome and also the 90gr Blitz Kings. The barrel twist may determine how long a projectile you can use. Mine is 1 in 12. The 87gr Sierra Varmints are devistating on small game.

My 303-25 is based on an M17 action, so it should be able to take higher pressure, but accuracy is the main factor.

Obviously a milder load doesn't restrict the range in any practical sense!

Thanks for showing us those fabulous photos!

I'm sorry in advance for showing my ignorance... but where might one find barrels? And what kind of head space issues would have to be dealt with?

No reason why higher pressure loads should not be used with the M17 action.  We're not talking extreme pressure here, just mid 308 pressure range.  That would make the most of the 303/25 potential in my opinion.  It's the Lee Enfield that suffers accuracy loss at too high a pressure, or so I am led to believe.

There is (or was) someone here in NZ who made barrels and I think he did 25-303 barrels.  I'd think there would be someone in Canada doing 303/25?
