Here on New Years Eve there of course there is the standard rituals involving food and drink until the way hours after midnight.

New Years day is customarily celebrated with a feast of Ham, Black-eyed peas, and cabbage to bring prosperity and good luck to the new coming year. And for some the watching the American Football games that are played all day

I would imagine the large meal would be a welcome relief to the hang over from the night before.

About midnight I go outside and empty a clip from an M-1 (or other handy rifle) into the night sky. Then I go to bed.

Thresher,

I hope you live in a rural area and no danger hurting ay near by people. Would not be a very good thing to ruin someone’s new years with a rouge bullet dropping down on them. Remember the M1 Garand shoots the 30-06 Springfield ammunition which will shoot several miles as will the M1carbine.

Enjoy your evening and stay safe!

Well I got trashed on goon punch last night and now I am going down the beach for a swim, it's like 30 degrees and sunny here, awesome
But the winters coming,

And the snow will cover tracks,

And I'll be watching,

Because I'm hunting you

I live in the middle of nowhere. Right smack in the middle of a 155 acre farm. My driveway is 2500' long. We have to have sunshine hauled in. You can't see a sign of civilization from my house. Or at my house for that matter.

I started a new one....I took a family heirloom remmy model 11 out back and shot off a single round....the gun was made in 1928. I had no hearing protection on...didnt even make my ears ring....my dog was running around looking for what she thought I had just killed!! I like this tradition....think I will pass it on to my kids. PS...for the safety conscious I shot from 50 yards into a 15 foot high railway line "butt"...about as safe as it gets.

I smell the aroma of Black eyed peas, boiling cabbage and roasting ham emitting from the kitchen.

I worry about your "Nocturnal Habits", Hatch !  I can see the writing on the wall ! You & Roo going out for a few 'Quiet ones' & the Pair of you waking up the following day on a Russian Fishing Trawler that's heading for Antarctica! with 'I love Fish & Chips' tattooed across your Foreheads!!!!!!!Shocked

Or even worse (yes it can be worse!) Waking up in a park some where & you both have 20cents in your hands & a sore Arse !!!!!!!!DeadLOL

Personally this year as I was on Day shift I was in bed tucked up (after giving very explicated orders to all & sundry of the fate that awaited any person who banged on my door or rang me at midnight) by 2200hrs !!!!!!

Don't worry Hatch....I promise you will have some good stories to tell!!
We don't have goon here....but there are no shortage of substitutions and I can also offer outdoor, subzero, night air rifle shooting....lots of fun, just ask Mean 17!!

I put the Poof Medicine on the Big pile in the back pasture and then Boogie and I shot at it with roman Candels to light it from a safe distance then poped a few Beers open and hung some gas filled Ballons on the fence and we all sot at them with the roman candals till we hit one and made a very loude boom.
I also had some Other type fireworks for the kids also and they had a blast...
also loaded the canon and shot it a few times then at midnight I unrolled a 1000 round belt of fire crackers and laced them on to the top of the fence with balloons placed at the end and through out the strand and then set them off at Midnight...
Next day Me and Sgt Deshotels cooked a brisket in His Cajun Microwave...
and just sat around B.S.ing about what ever came to mind....
Brisket came out great....
