It does not hurt to fairly negotiate. The worst answer you can get is a no. Never hurts to ask for a better price off the asking price.

Welcome to the Souk in Safi. All thats missi9ng is the kid bringing the mint tea to lubricate the negotiations! "Effendi I am but a poor man with many wives & camels to support"! You've set the hook, now play him.

I would now say "Thank you for getting back to me. I definitely don't mean to insult you with another offer, so may I ask what your "rock rottom" price would be?
I believe you guys are only $25 apart. In my opinion, not enough for him to get huffy and not enough if it was a rifle I really wanted so I would pro bably pony up.

Price is not the issue, he`s asking $300 plus shipping, so not a huge out lay on my part for a nice rifle. I just initially tried at $275, that`s when things went quiet. He didn`t blast me like so many others have LOL... I did ask for bore condition and he obliged me with some nice bore pics, very good condition bore, so that`s a good thing, he also noted that for a 104yr old action and PH build, he said this is a 9/10 overall condition rifle. Based on his pics I`d have to agree. |

It looks like a very nice rifle for that price.

Well guys and gals, this chapter is closed, I will not be adding this fine example to my collection. The gentleman selling, informed me that due to being in Quebec, the rifle is registered, to sell, the rifle basically gets a new address and remains registered, so I want no part of that. My prohibs and restricted firearms are already registered, but long arms and non restricted shot guns are not required to be registered in the rest of Canada. Just one more sneaky way ours feds can keep tabs on firearms in Canada, Way to go Quebec! Oh and just a reminder to all those upright Canucks that registered under that regeme, your Guns are still registered and ALL records are being safely kept in Quebec!!! So when the hammer falls, everyone in Canada who stepped up and registered their long arms, will most likely be the first to loose.

I'm not quite sure what Quebec was thinking back then, but I never know what they are thinking at the best of times. Probably did it too keep more government money for registration program. Most people I know registered a rifle back then. Usually a $20 rusty Cooey or Lakefield .22. they are welcome to come get it.
